Neurofibromatosis Resources

Jeff's Story:

My name is Jeff and I am now 31 years of age. I was told about nf1 when I could understand it a bit better. I was told I had it passed on by my father, and he had it from his father; that's how far I can go back.

Well I had very poor eye sight at school, and I was very slow at picking things up, but I got on with to the best I could. I have had all kinds of different scans and tests for swelling of my joints low back pain, as I was always falling down at school. I remember been told to go home from school one day as my dad was not well. He had already started to tell me a bit more of nf, but not much before he passed away.

My eye sight is still going, it is now 4/60 in both the eyes. My walking is not good, and only last year I was told I had some epileptic fits. So day by day things are changing for me, but I am still happy with myself. I fight the pain, as I don't like medication. I like my music and my computer, and it takes the mind off the negative thoughts.

I wish to get to know more on nf so I can try to help others young or old. I have been told of a chat site for people with nf, but have not found it yet. I still have problems with my spelling and handwriting in letters, and have problems reading small print like the news paper or any post.

I just thank my mother for being here for me has she helps me with a lot of daily skills like cooking, ironing, and many others too.

If I can talk or help anyone with the problems with nf, as I am still try to find out more every day, send me email.
