My husband had facial nerve schwannoma resected and immediate nerve graft put in. He now has complete facial paralysis on the left face. What are the chances of regaining facial motor function after complete nerve resection and graft? Is there a need for physical or speech therapy? Any alternative care that might help for recovery? Please reply. Worried to death and hoping to have some support from people who've had the same experience.

My uncle is no longer responding to non invasive therapies so his doctor (Dr. Madrazo) has told him to have a surgery named Pallidotomy but we are not so sure if this would be a good thing. We would like to get in touch with other people who have had it. ¿Can anybody help us? Maria Eugenia Ruelas eruelas@pziseries_DOT_com

I'd like to get off of my seizure medication - well, wouldn't we all? I'm 25 and would like to think about having children - without being on dilatin as it can be quite harmful to a fetus. Anyone have any luck getting off their medication using alternatives to medication/ surgery???

Hello ~ In October 2000, I had a lamenectomy at L5-S1. My pain was relieved for about 4-months, then returned. I am in great pain, as I also have fibromyalgia and chronic pain. I recently learned that I have spurring and stenosis at L5-S1. My entire spine hurts, but significantly so in my lower back, pelvic and coccyx areas, and my upper thighs feel as if little needles are pricking them. I am searching for a neurosurgeon in the Dallas, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; Corpus Christi, Texas; or Houston, Texas area for an opinion. Should you be able to give me any suggestions or guidance at all, I would be most appreciative. Sincerely and God bless you, Kiki

Folks I have a question about Scoliosis/Syringomyelia…. Is it normal for a person who suffers from this type of spinal problem to go on and develop Syringomyelia…where the person does not have the associated Arnold Chiari malformation or spinal mass lesion….what I would like to know is this a common occurrence with people who have Scoliosis…..I would indeed be grateful of any help… please contact me if you can help thank you

I have a bulging disc in the L5-S1 with a possible tear. I am getting a discogram done in 3 days and if that shows that I am a good candidate for the IDET I will most likely get that done. I have had radicular pain in my right butt and thigh and pain in my 2 middle toes intermittently, and I'm really hoping that the IDET will be beneficial. Has anyone had this procedure done and can tell me how it was for them? I am nervous and would like as much information as possible from other patients with a similar history as my own. Thanks a lot!
